My name is Ilan, and I discovered triathlon during the lowest chapter of my life.

I was going through a painful divorce. My startup was failing. Everything I had worked for was falling apart. I felt like I was standing at a crossroads. One path led deeper into depression and hopelessness. The other led toward something I had never even considered - something so far outside my comfort zone that it almost didn’t feel real.

That’s when my friend Dax, an Ironman coach, told me, “Find one thing that feels impossible... and go do it.” He suggested I start with a sprint triathlon. I had no background in cycling. I could barely swim. The idea of open water terrified me. But I signed up anyway.

I finished that first sprint triathlon. Then another. And then I told Dax, “I’m doing a full Ironman.” He laughed. “You don’t jump from sprint to full. You’re not ready.”

But I wasn’t chasing readiness. I was chasing a new identity. I needed to become the kind of man who doesn’t back down from fear. So I committed.

I trained - kind of. Honestly, I was still in survival mode. Depressed. Scattered.

I studied the best mental coaches and endurance athletes in the world. I created a mindset system that helped me push past the fear, the pain, and the doubt. And I finished the race. Not because my body was ready - it wasn’t. I finished because my mind was.
